Centre Philosophy

South Lake Early Learning Centre and OSHC were formed on the lands of the Noongar people of the Southwest of Western Australia. We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait People as the traditional custodians of this country and their connection to the land, water, and community in which we operate. We pay respect to them and their cultures and customs, past and present.

Our Children

We recognise the individuality of each child and strive to create a safe, stimulating, nurturing and inclusive environment for all. Children have equal opportunities to learn and are educated about the differences and uniqueness of everyone to promote self-esteem in all children.

Program and Practice

We understand the importance of play and believe that children gain knowledge through active participation in their natural and sustainable surroundings. Our programs and experiences are developed with input from families and extensions of children’s current interests. By utilizing intentional teaching strategies, we cultivate an environment that supports children’s learning, encouraging them to explore, inquire, and creatively experiment with various materials.

Educators

Our educators are dedicated to maintaining a consistent and welcoming atmosphere for both children and families. We engage in ongoing professional development to enhance our knowledge and refine our practices. We aim to assist children in expanding their understanding, boosting their confidence, and expressing their creativity.

Families and Community

We honour and celebrate the unique diversity of our families and recognise the rich cultural backgrounds and values that contribute to our community. By fostering an inclusive and respectful environment, we aim to facilitate a smooth transition for children as they move between home and daycare providing continuity journey.

We work alongside local community organisations and early childhood providers to ensure families can access a range of supportive services. Through strong partnerships with families and the wider community, we aspire to provide a foundation for children to become compassionate, capable, and active contributors to a better world.
